Keep losing weight after you stop dieting?

 

It’s the vicious cycle of dieting: you stop the restrictions and the weight piles back on. But what if you stopped the dieting and the weight kept coming off?

A new study on the supplement alpha-lipoic acid has found that you may be able to do just that.

When taken with a normal diet it has no obvious benefit. But scientists say it can ‘lock in’ the benefits of a six-month weight loss program  if it is taken afterward.

So, that means that if you can stick to your reduced calorie intake for 6 months, you can extend the benefits even longer simply by taking this supplement. The same study also looked at the life extending benefits of a reduced calorie diet and confirmed that taking this supplement not only extended the weight loss benefits, but also conferred the life extending benefits as well.

The supplement has been traditionally marketed as an anti-oxidant and has been found to benefit conditions such as stroke and liver damage and may also be beneficial to people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
