Homemade Face Fixers

Who has the time or money to hit up the spa once or twice a month to keep your skin looking ravishing and young? I know I don’t. However, I know I also don’t have the time to sit and worry about what I’m going to do with my dull, dry and aging skin. My newest rage is do-it-yourself facials that deliver just as much power and punch as the expensive kinds–and, you can do them in your underwear.

For all around radiance, try the egg yolk mask. Break open two eggs and separate the yolks from the whites. Scramble them up, and smooth onto your face (be careful of the eyes). The mask will take about five minutes to harden. Once it does, wash off with a warm cloth.

For smooth skin, whip up an avocado delight. Take an avocado, cut in half, and mash up it up into a bowl. Smooth onto skin and leave for 15 minutes.

For a great exfoliant, mix one part baking soda and one part sea salt. Rub this onto the face gently, and wash off. Only exfoliate twice a week as needed.

To moisten dry skin, mix 1 tsp butter and 1 tsp water. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse.

To dry out oily skin, mix plain yogurt with 1 tsp yeast. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse.

To sooth irritated skin, mix one part oatmeal and one part baking soda. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse.

Just because these are homemade concoctions, that doesn’t mean they won’t react with your skin if you’re known to be a sensitive case. Always test out a small part of your skin first before doing the entire thing. Another tip: Always rinse with warm water and follow up with cold water to close your pores.
