Do-It-Yourself Spa Treatments
Who doesn’t like to be pampered after a hard day’s work? If you’re like me, I’ll take any chance I get in a day to enjoy simple pleasures like a morning mocha, some fresh cut flowers from the farmer’s market or a mini facial from the local salon.
But what if you’re a little short on cash this week? Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with a few simple do-it-yourself spa treatments:
Simple Citus Facial
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon lemon, grapefruit or orange juice
2 teaspoons honey
6 ounces yogurt (plain)
1/2 cup oatmeal
Directions:
Blend all ingredients and apply directly to face. Sit back and relax for a few moments until dry then rinse with warm water.
Apple Pie Skin Polish (from the Bachelor Gulch Spa)
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh apple puree or apple sauce
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
Mix all ingredients well. In your bath or shower, apply mixture to skin in a circular motion, paying special attention to rough spots like elbows, knees or the soles of your feet. Rinse off with warm water.
Papaya Skin Rejuvenation-Skin Refresher (from Nob Hill Spa in San Francisco)
Directions:
Wash your face thoroughly with warm soapy water. Then, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Mash 1/2 of a papaya. Place pot beneath your face and hold a towel over your head. Steam face for 5-8 minutes. Apply papaya mixture to face. Lie down and relax for 5-10 minutes. When you feel rested and rejuvenated, simply rinse mixture off face with warm water.
