Consider Going Organic This Thanksgiving

ThanksgivingDinnerThanksgiving is a time to be thankful for so many things. This year, be thankful for the natural gifts from our earth. The early settlers only had whole foods to choose from. No pesticides, chemical additives, or produce from far off lands. Why not try a whole food, organic Thanksgiving this year? With over a week to prepare, now is a perfect time to explore your local markets and farms to provide your family with healthy and organic ingredients.

Ideas for finding organic ingredients:

Farmers’ Markets
Although “local” doesn’t necessarily mean “organic” (be sure to ask!), farmers’ markets are generally great places to find organic fruits and vegetables.

Community Supported Agriculture
Consider joining a CSA. These groups purchase vegetables directly from organic farmers and have them delivered to central drop-off locations in nearby cities.

Supermarkets
If you are willing to do a little extra legwork, you can usually find good organic alternatives at your regular neighborhood supermarket. The organic.org store finder is a great place to start your search. If you live in a place where organic foods are less available, Diamond Organic delivers fresh organic produce, poultry, dairy, pumpkin puree and bakery items nationwide.

Organic Wine
Perhaps you might even like to give an organic wine a try. The Organic Wine Company brings you world-class organically grown wines from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, California, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile.
