ADD in Girls Goes Under-diagnosed

1ADD in Girls Goes Under-diagnosedI just read a really interesting article about ADD in teenage girls. Apparently, attention deficit disorder is under diagnosed in girls because the symptoms are much different than in boys. Warning signs can include anything from risky sexual behavior to sloppy handwriting. What starts out as shyness in childhood could turn into depression in adolescence. Interesting stuff to women and mothers of teens. A must read.

I’ve been saying this for years! I was not diagnosed as a child and can say this has caused many problems for me.
Now I watch my daughter struggle and the docs say “she’s not hyperactive”. Mostly this is because she is well-behaved, as I was. Good behavior doesn’t stop what’s going on the mind! Frustrating!
